Great site. I stopped by to show Mr. Harry A. Lacy your site as he was a veteran from WWII. He was in New Zealand and Fiji before shipping out to Normandy beach. Harry fitted all of the trucks in his units with "snorkels" to get from the boat to the beach...never lost a one. Harry is a bit deaf, but still has all of his memory. He is real proud of his 1938 GMC 6x6. Served as a mechanic until he retired. I know he would welcome any questions on diamond t's, hercules engines, Indiana trucks, and such. I would be happy to pass on any questions or supply phone numbers to anyone with a interest. charlie...

A top site. A true collector can really appreciate the effort put into 'the hunt', the restoration, preservation and display of items. While I am not a collector of vehicles I have known many who are. I collect vehicle number plates (licence plates. If anyone can help me get some old Australian Commonwealth plates from pre 1960 I would be most pleased. Especially plates starting with 'C' or the older ones with 'AWC' or "DHW' verticle on the left. Keep up collecting!! Cheers

Hi. I'm a reporter in Bangkok, Thailand, just back from Burma, where I saw more old Jeeps on the raod than probably any country on earth. I'm going to do a story about them, but know very little on the background. Does anyone know about how many Jeeps were sent to Burma during World War II, and perhaps afterwards? Are there any anecdotes any veterans out there remember about their war-time Jeeps? I'd love to hear them. Also, I was told by a guy up-country that the Jeeps broke down into three types -- Willys, Ford and M-38. Can someone help me here and let me know what an M-38 is, exactly? I've seen some references on this site, but I could use more explanation. Thanks for helping this admitted Jeep neophyte.

Hello: I am a vice president of the Military Vehicle Collectors of California, a chapter of the Military Vehicle Preservation Ass'n. We are the organizing group for the 1999 MVPA International Convention in San Jose, California, this June. Although my main interest has been in my 1942 Indian 640B and BSA folding bicycle, I plan to create an "SAS desert jeep." I am trying to find people who have done research on these, and particularly need information on color schemes and color codes, plus detailed photos of methods of attaching gas cans. I also need a source for replica Vickers K guns or gun parts. I am also interested in hearing from anyone with a Volvo Pvpjtgb 9031 recoilless rifle jeep from the 1960s. If anyone is going to the MVPA Convention, you can find me at the motorcycle display. Thank you, John Neuenburg 597 Tarragon Drive San Rafael, CA 94903 USA telephone 415-491-1601

As an old crafty from nui dat I found your site very interesting but no-one seems to have a Centurion: 52 ton would play havoc with the pansies in the back yard I suppose, not to mention the Hills Hoists.Must admit I am a bit jealous of the Yank with the 113.Is it GM powered or one of the Petrol Chryslers?Regards to fellow vets.RAEME RULES.

Great site. I'm currently restoring a C8AX and hope to have it completed sometime over the next few months. These vehicles were never issued to the Australian Army yet I know of five so far. If any of your readers could help me out with ANY information regarding this particular type of CMP I would greatly appreciate it.

Great pages but it's rare to see WWII and post war vehicles in 1 group. I am member of the Dutch conservation group for vehicles build and or used from 1939 till 1945. It's called Keep Them Rolling. This club has about 1350 members/donaters wich all have a great joy in restoring and driving these vehicles. My father and i have a Willi's MB 1942 with a Bantam Trailer. Keep on doing the good work but put away the post war vehicles. They have no meaning to me what so ever.(no historical value

Congratulations on an informative and professional site. Although, I must confess, I was surfing the net to pinch a few ideas for our *COMING SOON* site for the National Road Transport Hall of Fame in Alice Springs ( of which the military, particularly through WWII, the building of the Stuart Highway, the massive convoys and the resultant birth of the roadtrain, plays a major role). We are having a giant transport re-union between 28 July and 3 August 2000 with heaps of people and vehicles coming - why not put together a group and come up !!! I can be contacted on 08 89522111 for further information. In the meantime I will keep you posted on the progress of our site. Well done guys !!! from Liz Martin, President, National Road Transport Hall of Fame, Alice Springs, NT, Australia

Wonderful to see such a dedicated band of military vehicles enthusiasts not only preserving these interesting vehicles, but sharing them with people all over the world via the internet. It's a great site which is constantly being updated - a must to keep visitors returning. I have 4 CMP vehicles - 1 F60L cab 13 with winch, 1 F15A, a converted FGT and enough remains to create a Ford cab 12 F15A. I have also put my library of pictures of these vehicles on the net at http://www.imagecontrol.com.au/cmp.html and am a video producer with a keen interest to produce a documentary on the subject.

WOW. This site gets better all the time. Informative, a professional image for the club and museum. Love the related links to visit each month. And my E-Mails have appeared. Doop! Better look out for the grammer and spelling next time. Well done, keep up the good work. Looking forward to returning to Adelaide some time this year. Watch-out. At present I am divided between a few recovery possibilities that I can backload to Adelaide when we return (My next restoration project) Help me decide with your opinion with a view to usefullness or special interest to the museum display area. Cletrack gun/field tractor, used by RAAF, about the size of a Bren Gun Carrier, with running gear intact (Running gear looks like a small verson of a Stuart Tank) Needs engine (Hurculese petrol engine??)and tracks. Federal Tank Transporter, with tray and winch behind cab, second vehicle for parts available, needs lots of work but runs (smokin diesel engine) Any comments, check out the photos posted to the club c/o Hugh Davis at the next club meeting Or will I simply save the marrage and keep my sanity and use the space in the backyard for activities other than vehicle restorations. I dont think so. I will say G,Day to Bronwyn Bishop for you all tomorrow at the offical opening of new Airmens Recreation Centre RAAF Base Darwin (My latest building project completed for Defence) See you in hyper space Darwin Doug
